Acquisition of citizenship due to Cypriot origin

The types of applications for acquiring the Cypriot citizenship due to Cypriot origin, as well as their supporting documents, are as follows:
 
MINORS (UNDER THE AGE OF 18)
 
Application for Consular Birth Certificate (type M121)
 
It may be submitted by minors or adults (over the age of 18) who were born abroad after 16 August 1960 and whose father was a Cypriot citizen at the time of their birth, or by individuals born after 11 June 1999 and whose mother was a Cypriot citizen at the time of their birth. 
 
Supporting documents:
 
· Birth certificate of the applicant
· Marriage certificate of the applicant’s parents 
· Copy of the applicant’s and their parents’ passports
· Certificate of registration of the Cypriot parent
· Copy of receipt for €20 fee paid
· Stamp duty for €8.54 affixed to the application form
 
NOTE:
All public documents issued abroad must:
(i) Be accompanied by their Greek or English translation by the Press and Information Office.
ii) Be duly certified with:
- either the Apostille stamp, if they have been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961,
- or, if they have not been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in said country; or the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant’s country in Cyprus, and subsequently, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
If the country has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961 and there is no Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in the applicant’s country, the documents must be stamped by the applicant’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and subsequently by the closest Embassy/Consulate accredited by the Republic of Cyprus.
 
Application for the Registration of Minors (type M126)
 
It may be submitted for minors who were born prior to 11 June 1999 in Cyprus or abroad and whose mother is a Cypriot citizen and father a foreign national, or for minors whose father acquired the Cypriot citizenship after their birth. 
 
Additionally, the application may be submitted for minors whose father or mother acquired the Cypriot citizenship by Naturalization or by Registration due to marriage with a Cypriot citizen. 
 
Supporting documents:
 
· Birth certificate of the applicant
· Marriage certificate of the applicant’s parents 
· Copy of the applicant’s and their parents’ passports. 
· Certificate of registration of the Cypriot parent
· Declaration of the foreign parent, signed before an officer of the District Administration Office or a bailiff of a Cypriot court, consenting to granting the Cypriot citizenship to a minor. The declaration is not required if the Cypriot parent has obtained sole custody of the minor by court decision. However, a copy of the relevant court decision must be attached to the application form. 
· Two passport-size photographs 
· Copy of receipt for €80 fee paid
· Stamp duty for €8.54 affixed to the application form
 
The applications for children of Cypriot citizens who acquired the citizenship by Naturalization or by Registration due to marriage with a Cypriot citizen must also be accompanied by the following documents: 
 
· Certificate of Registration or Naturalization of the Cypriot parent
· Copy of school attendance certificate
· Copy of valid temporary residence permit 
 
NOTE:
All public documents issued abroad must:
(i) Be accompanied by their Greek or English translation by the Press and Information Office.
(ii) Be duly certified with:
- either the Apostille stamp, if they have been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961,
- or, if they have not been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in said country; or the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant’s country in Cyprus, and subsequently, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
If the country has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961 and there is no Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in the applicant’s country, the documents must be stamped by the applicant’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and subsequently by the closest Embassy/Consulate accredited by the Republic of Cyprus.
 
ADULTS (OVER THE AGE OF 18)
 
Application types M70 or M71
 
They may be submitted by persons born prior to 16 August 1960 who are citizens of the United Kingdom and its former colonies, and who are descendants of a male Cypriot. 
 
Supporting documents:
 
· Birth certificate of the applicant
· Birth certificate of the applicant’s father 
· Copy of the applicant’s passport
· Copy of receipt for €20 fee paid
· Stamp duty for €1.71 affixed to the application form
 
NOTE:
All public documents issued abroad must:
(i) Be accompanied by their Greek or English translation by the Press and Information Office.
(ii) Be duly certified with:
- either the Apostille stamp, if they have been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961,
- or, if they have not been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in said country; or the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant’s country in Cyprus, and subsequently, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.

Application type M123
 
It may be submitted by adults who were born after 16 August 1960 and whose mother is a Cypriot citizen and father a foreign national. 
 
Additionally it may be submitted by adults who were born after 16 August 1960 and are descendants of a person who became a British citizen based on the Annexation of Cyprus Orders in Council 1914 to 1943, or a person born in Cyprus after 5 November 1914 and prior to 16 August 1960.
 
Supporting documents:
 
· Birth certificate of the applicant
· Marriage certificate of the applicant’s parents 
· Copy of the applicant’s and their parents’ passports
· Certificate of registration of the Cypriot parent
· Copy of receipt for €50 fee paid
· Submission of application in duplicate with stamp duty for €8.54 affixed to one of the forms. 
 
NOTE:
All public documents issued abroad must:
(i) Be accompanied by their Greek or English translation by the Press and Information Office.
(ii) Be duly certified with:
- either the Apostille stamp, if they have been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961,
- or, if they have not been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in said country; or the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant’s country in Cyprus, and subsequently, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
If the country has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961 and there is no Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in the applicant’s country, the documents must be stamped by the applicant’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and subsequently by the closest Embassy/Consulate accredited by the Republic of Cyprus.
 
Application type M124
 
It may be submitted by adults who were born either before or after 16 August 1960, are British citizens, or citizens of any Commonwealth State, and have completed one year of legal residence in the Republic. 
 
Supporting documents:
 
· Birth certificate of the applicant
· Certificate of no criminal record for the applicant 
· Copy of the applicant’s passport
· Copy of receipt for €80 fee paid
· Submission of application in duplicate with stamp duty for €8.54 affixed to one of the forms. 
 
NOTE:
All public documents issued abroad must:
(i) Be accompanied by their Greek or English translation by the Press and Information Office.
(ii) Be duly certified with:
- either the Apostille stamp, if they have been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961,
- or, if they have not been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in said country; or the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant’s country in Cyprus, and subsequently, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
If the country has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961 and there is no Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in the applicant’s country, the documents must be stamped by the applicant’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and subsequently by the closest Embassy/Consulate accredited by the Republic of Cyprus.
